Mark Morris, Owner

“I was born and raised in Arizona and live in northern Arizona today. My affinity for wood came when I was a young teenager. A family friend who owned a successful contemporary furniture business offered me part time work after school. My job was to put together furniture, polish, dust, and do odd jobs. I was fascinated with the variety of wood species. When I first saw Brazilian Rosewood, while assembling a dining room table, I couldn’t believe that mother nature could create such a magnificent piece of art. It was like staring into a painting, I could look at it for hours. The depth of colors and grain design seemed endless. Fast forward to today and that beautiful Brazilian Rosewood is listed as a Vulnerable species and if not properly managed will become extinct. I strive to work with sustainable species of wood with beautiful color and grain patterns. That experience was influential in my design aesthetic, clean lines, and rich sustainable wood. I always tell people who have complimented my work, after thanking them, that I’m just enhancing mother nature's creation.”

Friends have said that Mark can fabricate anything from wood. As a 3rd generation home builder that’s no surprise, it comes to him naturally.

Mark has an organic approach to design and holds a reverence for the materials and for the process of creating. With an art degree and over 25 years of experience, Mark is adept with all kinds of materials but the properties of natural wood makes it a favorite. With a deep appreciation for the time honored techniques of woodworking and the masterful skill that goes into making a truly fine, quality piece. “Woodworking and furniture making challenge me to balance overall composition with close attention to the most minute details. Every shape, line, and detail has intention. Every surface and edge has been touched and cared for. I’m just exposing what mother nature created and I let the wood speak for itself.”

"We enjoyed working with Mark and were very pleased with our final product. He takes great pride in his work and he is an ethical artist. The quality of work Mark Morris delivers is unquestionably a 10."
